Walk this way

I was interviewed by Susan Wassel @sharpiesusanfor Sharpie Blog a few days ago and here is the begining of the interview. I will add a link so you can go and read the rest of the article. If you are kind enough you can leave comments on the blog there in support to me. Yey!

I am really happy and honoured to be there. Those that know me well know that I LOVE SHARPIES even before this. That is why they find me [they found the shoes] so they reached me and here we are.

"I just customize things…I believe in recycling and giving use to things that normally you would throw to waste …"

That’s how Reavel describes her work, which includes breathing new life into everyday objects like clipboards and sneakers. She has a special gift for taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary. Reavel lives in Puerto Rico and says many of her country’s vibrant colors inspire her work. On her website, she free associates the following words with her thoughts and ideas about art:

Söndag's First Year

Un dia como hoy hace un anho Söndag llego a mi patio. Desde ese momento hasta el dia de hoy pues no se fue. I confess that I used to hate cats. I found them pretty photogenic but it never crossed my mind to own one. Still when I saw her all alone on my backyard I felt like I couldn't leave her there. I remember that I even blogged about her not knowing what to do with her.

Now I remember all the fuzz in the house about keeping her. All that I had to learn and still learning about how to work with cats it is definitely another world. It is a cat world with way too much fanatics or responsible owners. Even when my family didn't want me to keep her they ended up loving her. Now they check up on her, buy her toys, play with her and they just learn to love her. My grandmother loves her and she just likes watching her play around the house with anything.

Im happy that I rescue her. There are plenty of sick cats around my street and if I didnt took care of her there would be plenty more of them in the future if she ever got pregnant. I took her to the vet for the first time in november last year. Yeah I know it is a long time but hey I had no clue if I was going to keep her for life. So the doctor told me that she was 7months old which means I got her when she was only 2 months.

I have seen her grow, get old, go thru phases just like kids. They get tantrums but even when all the work she have been a good cat. Never made a huge mess besides the hair thing. I wouldnt change a thing and I am really glad that I kept her. She is healthy, loved and been taken care of. Of course she have been spoiled, pampered in every way that I can. She is pretty active, playful and loves to hunt but above all she loves to sleep and sit by the window.

Now here are some photos of this years since I took her until now. You can see Söndag whole album on Flickr. She also haves a blog and a pretty "active social network life" haha.

Damask Door

I got a little crafty the other day and my mission was to make the door to my room different from the rest of the house. I am planning on changing my whole house look to something more modern but there are some issues that still have me on hold so I will just do my room and wait for the rest to happen.

Anyways... my door is a black wood color. Before I did this it already had some contact paper of a lighter wood color that helped me a lot with my new mission. I went to Kmart and got some gift wrap paper of a damask print [the same one I'll use for my future storage boxes], got a clear contact paper roll. The other materials ruler, spray glue and the black sticky paper [which i got from my work] I already had it but if you cant get the sticky paper you can use black contact paper instead.

First I covered the door with the clear contact paper. Then to glue the gift wrap paper y spread some spray glue. I used the clear contact paper to protect the door so when I get tired of my design it is easy to remove without harming the wood. After that i just glued the paper and then trim the borders... after that i just added the sticky black paper to the bottom and all done.

If you are not sure [like me] of how tall/wide is your door get double of everything. I came out short but was able to fix it. Go Crafty me! Now I have a new door that looks awesomely cool and totally different and everything under $10 cause I had most of the items around. By the way the door knob will be black sooner or later so it will all match perfectly.

All in one night?

Is it possible to have criollo/oriental food, great friends around you and D&B all in one night?

Last night I went out with some great friends. We didn't see each other for like 6 months even when we live pretty close except for the one that lives in NYC but yeah that happens. Thing is that we gather up to eat at a restaurant have a great night chat over dinner and update in each others lives.

On the way there we listen to Soda Stereo as always Alena Clarks favorite band ever. Then we arrived at our destination Budatai. Budatai is a restaurant in Condado area right across the legendary Hotel La Concha. Great place. Way out of my budget but great. The guys ordered some Dim Sum that had amarillitos with pork meat that were heavenly. Perfect made. Later on they also ordered Geisha Rolls that had merengue on top. This one were good but honestly nothing special the greatest thing was the merengue sushi combination. Still the sushi wasn't all that.

After those delightful "appetizers" they wanted more food. Perhaps to combat the after effects of the drinks. I had a Long island Iced tea as always. My friends had some other drinks that were good and really kicked in your system after you have like 3 of each... yeah... anyways they had fun.

The entree orders were the Kobe Steak and let me tell you people have to learn from the chef how to make steaks. The steak was everything I've ever dreamed of in my life. It was juicy had lots of flavor it was done the right way. Tuna fish with peas and a sauce to die for, this is my friends favorite plate there. Great plate. The langostinos plate looked great and it seems it was madly good cause there were nothing left on the plate. I ordered the Calamari with onions and it was all expected it was perfect not over done or over fried. The onions also added a great taste to everything along with the lemon.

So we stayed there for a long while enjoyed the view from the second floor watching this new generation of kids hanging out at La Ventana al Mar besides La Concha all dressed up like if they were going to this huge party but no they were just hanging out there taking pictures like the world wont ever end. Then after enjoying/studying the view we went inside asked for the check and went out. By the way the check of $300.00 almost killed me but since I had a blast with my friends I try to avoid remembering it. A great dinner with old good friends is always PRICELESS!

After that we went cruising around Santurce looking for a place called Vatican. My friend saw on her facebook that tonight someone was playing there and she was into electronic music so hunting for that place we went. Believe or not google helped us find the place. Have I ever told you I love google... Yes I do. Anyways it gave us the address and after running around the place we found it.

The Vatican Club is the full name. We paid $3 to get inside and there was this extremely loud D&B, with hip-hop or something going on. I even felt old when I watched the kids there. I said to myself I am too old for this shit. But hey they were having a blast all trippy like floating around the dance area. Believe me I can spend there like 45 min tops. If you are not ready to make your ears bleed don't go there. To stay there the whole night you need assistance. Still I liked the music it was awesome great.

In fact I gather up some information so I can find their music. What I discovered after my search on facebook was in fact that it was a D&B event called Here comes the bass... The DJs playing were Fission, Squadra and from the PRDC [Puerto Rico Dubstep Cru] Moshrum and Codezero. You can get more info on events like this at [Watch video: The Vatican Club]

Now I have to make a stop here. While I was there I was more watching the crowd inside than bothered with the loud music. I saw this young kids and I know they are having fun and all but they looked like in Alice in Wonderland. Maybe it is that I don't get the emotion or hype they had since I've never been on one. Hey I started hanging out after my 25 birthday. Therefore I see things differently. But things are relative depending on what you like. I don't know it just felt strange watching them like moving around "like dancing" drinking talking mumbling to each other. Anyways I had a great time and enjoyed the music. Happy that it was kind of empty which made it easier. By the way the lights effect were really good it made the music more cool.

So after all this I think that Yes. Yes it is. It is possible to have criollo/oriental food, great friends around you and D&B all in one night. The bast part is that you can roam around Area Metro and you wont even take 30min from one place to the other. Which is always good.

A Skully Bag

Like a week ago or so I did a nice black/grey small bag. All hand sew and made with felt. It actually came out better than expected. I did some research and found out it wasnt hard to make so I try it out. It took me two days to sew it. The hangers were sew appart then stitched to the res of the bag. The skully/ribbon where also hand stitched. I did had fun making this one and looking forward to do others with other styles not only skully. So if you are interested please do stay around.

Enjoy the pics.

Since last October I got an HTC Touch with data plan. Since then I've been able to really keep updated about almost everything. Since I am twitter lover I have been using lots of twitter clients. Here I will talk about it.
  • Twitter Mobile - is twitter on mobile webpage. It works if you are into only reading your friends twits. Not good for replying or doing what you would like to do like favorite, keep track of conversations etc. Sad thing is that being the original page of the whole twitter movement it doesnt let you do any of the cool things like sharing pics.
  • TinyTwitter - This was the first app I found for me it was the real thing, Later on it froze too much & made me loose lots of valuable information because it didn't updated frequently. Somehow it also burned my battery fast.
  • Twikini - If you have WinMo [WindowsMobile] you should have this one right away. At first it didnt let you do lots of things but now you are able to do almost everything here. You can see/reply DM and reply to any other twit on your stream. It updates every 5min [well that is what I choose]. The themes are good and none of the others twitter applications lets you change themes. If you are listening to something on your media player on your WinMo it will twit itself to your feed [note: if you dont want to feel like a spammer turn it off [that is what I did 'sorry guys for the constant music']. Other things you can do is delete messages, retweet, favorite, view other people streams, etc] Lowside of this is that now they are only letting you use it as a 14 days trial version. But they have other cool options if you want to keep it so check it out it is worth the try very much. It also makes a sound every time it updates so that you know when it does it.
  • - I recomend this to everyone. It is not an application it is a mobile webpage. In this page you can do almost everything. You can view your/other people conversation when you click on the bubbles. If someone is sharing a photo you can actually see a thumbnail of it. It doesnt sound to warn you of the refreshing thing cause it doesnt autorefresh you have to do it on your own. Also if you want to meet/twit/find people on your local area you can search from the page. Also upload your photos directly on slandr on their own photo uploader, the pic then will show up on twitpic. If you want to see the trends you can also do it here. For me this is the most complete one. The only thing that it needs is to auto refresh and it would be the best thing ever.

Conclusion: If you have a Window Mobile phone you MUST have Twikini. If you dont have one or cant afford the Twikini well use the Slandr. This two are my favorites to use back to back. Right now I downloaded the trial and waiting to see what happens cause I would totally love to keep it. I will keep using my backup plan which is Slandr. Enjoy!
