Oscars '08 Wrap Up

Last night were the Oscars I saw many of the winning events. I missed the best picture, best male actor, best director cause it was late and I had to wake up early [damn it after seen the whole show I missed the important part... *sigh*].

The winners were:

Best Picture: No Country for Old Man
Best Actor:
Daniel Day-Lewis for 'There Will Be Blood'
Best Actress:
Marion Cotillard for 'La Vie En Rose'
Best Supporting Actor:
Javier Bardem for 'No Country for Old Men'
Best Supporting Actress:
Tilda Swinton for 'Michael Clayton'
Best Director:
Joel and Ethan Coen for 'No Country for Old Men'

On the the music subject I was so happy that the song Falling Slowly from the movie Once won this award cause honestly the music from Enchanted seemed too Disney like for me and it didn't had that full wonderfull lyrics that I seek in a song. Music and lyric by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova who also performed it on the show. Their speaches were awesome and John Carney did the right thing when he made a little space for Marketa to give her accpetance speach cause they played the music on her [as the normaly do ... due to time issues again... CHECK THE VIDEO OF THE SONG BELOW]. August Rush song "Raise It Up" music and lyric by Jamal Joseph, Charles Mack and Tevin Thomas was great too. That little girl can sing damn right. I am happy for independent musicians this is proof that you can do it.

I will quote Mr. Hansard:
-"This is amazing. Make art. Make art."

I was kind of sad that Johnny or Vigo didn't won the best actor but hey this guy also did an excelent job so he deserved that oscar too. No complain on that. Sweeney Todd won Art Direction [Dante Ferretti (Art Direction); Francesca Lo Schiavo (Set Decoration)] which is good too but i wanted to see more. Again the competition was hard many good choices so it is all good. Jack Nicholson is always priceless to have on the Oscars show.

Enjoyed the movie quoting part that was a nice touch. Also the Honorary Oscar Award to Robert Boyle he is 98 years old and he worked with Alfred Hitchcock [and many more] as Art Director did quite a few movies. That was very very nice from the academy. His family was so happy they even cried.

So this is my wrap up for this years Oscars.
