Happy New Year 2008

Instead of complaining etc. I decided to take some pictures of the last day of the year 2007 around my places. Hope this year brings joy and many new things to you. Remember the mistakes you did this year but only to make sure you wont make them again and that you have been there done that but not need more than the T-Shirt to prove it. So new blessings, new projects and remember to be always thankful of what you have now, of what you didnt get this year. Hmm here the pics. Life is good it seems. Of course later on I might write my feelings or resume the 2007 for me but I dont feel like doing that RIGHT now. Happy Happy JOy JOy!!

Blogging Around

Well this festive days seems there is nothing good to do besides blogging. Even when I do it all the days lately. I am happy anyways cause I found some good blogs so it was worth it. Here I will add some info on those blogs that I found at least today.

[pajaro en mano]

This blog is from some illustrations made by Luciana Feito from Buenos Aires Argentina. You should check it out. Her description of the blog is Vida Ilustrada [Life Illustrated]. I enjoyed very much her illustrations very "simple" and colorful. She is also part of a blog dedicated entierly and exclusively to kids illustrations called cosodeilustradores.blogspot.com were you can unite and share your works with other artists. She started [pajaro en mano] in may 2006 and her blogs get very much comments. So pay a visit to the lady cause you will enjoy it too. You can also find some of her works on Illustration Friday [IF].

El blog de Gabi Campanario

Now this blog is from sketches and drawings made by Gabi Campanario from Spain but lives in Seattle, Washington, USA. He have worked in many places, newspapers but now he is working for the The Seattle Times. His works are fascinating. Liked them very much also. Also liked the little details he writes down with the arrows as marking were things should go. Even when they are sketches they are well done and defined. Some in colors and from normal daily places what makes it look like a diary. He started the blog on october 2006. Also check his flickr.com account you can have a better look to his works. Again pay a visit to this fellow cause his works are amazing to.

On a side NOTE I am very happy to see that both are latinos so that made me feel very proud to see that their works is exposed here and available to others. So to them thanks for sharing your gift with the world. I didnt added any of the works cause didnt feel like it was a right thing to do. But once you go to their sites you can see what I am talking about. Enjoy.

It is Tres Leches.

I have to talk about the Tres Leches cake. I just ate one of the best tres leches cake i have ever tasted on my life. Very pretty I didnt even wanted to eat it cause it looked so pretty. Ha Ha. It was done the right way. Not too much milk just the one it need. Not too much sugar it was perfect and cold. It haves to be cold. Anyways see for yourself.

Tres leches cake
A Tres Leches with cherries.A Tres leches cake, or Pastel de Tres leches (literally: "cake of three milks"), is a cake or, rarely, a butter cake, soaked in three kinds of milk: evaporated milk, condensed milk, and either whole milk or cream. Since butter is not often used, tres leches is a very light cake, with many air bubbles. This distinct texture is why, although it is soaked in a mixture of three types of milk, it does not have a soggy consistency.

Popularity and Origins
The cake is popular in parts of, if not all of, Latin America. The origins of tres leches are disputed, and are usually attributed to Mexico or Nicaragua, the two places where it appeared earliest[citation needed]. Mexico does, however, appear to have had recipes very similar to tres leches, which probably led to the now famous dessert being created there, and possibly then migrated to Nicaragua. The Nestlé company also claims to have helped the tres leches recipe evolve, during World War II, in Mexico. The idea for creating a cake soaked in a liquid is probably of European origin, as similar cakes, such as rum cake, and tiramisu, use this method.

Variations
Following the same recipe for the cake, but soaking it in a mixture of water, rum or brandy, and sugar, it is called pastel borracho (drunken cake). It is popular throughout Central America in this form.

In the Caribbean, cream of coconut is occasionally used instead of the condensed milk. As in the pastel borracho, rum is sometimes added.

In addition, fruit or nuts are added in some recipes, as well as many other kinds of alcohol.

At some restaurants in Texas and Florida, the addition of cajeta creates what is known as a cuatro leches cake.

Diamond Geezer

Perhaps taking his cue from luxury retailers, Damien Hirst swapped dead sharks for precious stones this year, encrusting a life-size cast of a human skull in 8,601 diamonds. When the blinged-out head sold for a reported $122 million to an anonymous investment group, the British artist's genius for the grand gesture was confirmed (he later told Paradis magazine that his business manager felt they should have asked for twice as much). Hirst himself is said to be one of the investors, but there's no word on whether Kimora Lee Simmons is involved.

+Info: For the Love of God

Damien Hirst (born June 7, 1965) is an English artist and the most prominent of the group that has been dubbed "Young British Artists" (or YBAs). He dominated the art scene in Britain during the 1990s and is internationally renowned.

Death is a central theme in his work. He is best known for his Butcher shop series, in which dead animals (such as a shark, a sheep or a cow) are preserved, sometimes cut-up, in formaldehyde. His iconic work is The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living, a 14-foot tiger shark immersed in formaldehyde in a vitrine. Its sale in 2004 made him the world's second most expensive living artist after Jasper Johns. In June 2007, Hirst became the most expensive living artist with the sale of a medicine chest, Lullaby Spring, for £9.65 million at Sotheby's in London.[1] On 30 August 2007, Hirst outdid his previous sale of Lullaby Spring with For The Love of God which sold for £50 million to an unknown investment group. [2]

He is also known for "spill paintings," made on a spinning circular surface, and "spot paintings," which are rows of randomly-coloured circles; these have been imitated in commical graphics.

During the 1990s his career was closely linked with the collector Charles Saatchi, but increasing frictions came to a head in 2003 and the liaison ended.

Music is Power

Yes! Music is Power. It does heal and makes you more calm it changes life. I already knew this but coming from this guy it made like more sense. The lyric is amazing liked it very much. This song Music is Power was written by Richard Ashcroft former lead singer of the UK band The Verve [whom I love]. I knew that the band broked up but didnt knew that he went on a solo career damn what I have been missing... living so far I hardly get news on this subjects. Anyways I wrote down the song on a paper while I was watching TV. I do this often cause I hardly see TV these day so I put VH1 and write down the songs/artist name so I can find some info or music, etc. Here is the lyric and the video to the song.

Song: Music is Power
Artist:
Richard Ashcroft

Music is power
Let it flow through your mind
Your just like a flower
Yeh, in the deep sunshine

Are you invited?
To the party of life
Now you've been sighted
Oh, do you live till you die

These are wild, wild, wild days we live in
Yes I know sometimes we all wanna give in
These are strange, strange, vain days of living
Yeh I know sometimes we all wanna give in

Don't give up
Oh no all right
Let the melody flow
All night all night

Cos music is power
It's ease of your soul
Rocking like a cradle
Yeh, it won't let you go

If the melodys timeless
Oh it won't let you down
Feel the air moving
Submit to the sound

In these wild, wild, wild days you live in
Yes I know sometimes you all wanna give in
These are strange, strange, vain days of living
I know sometimes you all wanna give in

Don't give up
Oh no all right
Let the melody flow
All night all night

After all we go through
(oh)
The endless crime
Bad days good fortune
(yeh)
Are things you find

Cos music is the mantra
Unwinding your head
Music is the question
To things unsaid

These are wild, wild, wild days you live in
Yeh I know sometimes we all wanna give in
These are strange, strange, vain days of living
Yeh I know sometimes that ya just don't fit in

Don't give in
don't give up
Don't pack it up
Stop cracking up

Let the song
Carry you on
An keep you strong

Don't wanna control ya
Cos music is the power (power)

Submit to the sound
Feel the air moving, moving
Submit to the sound
Feel the air moving, moving
(cos music is power...)

Chapter 3
[Gifts]

Ok now it is the time for the gifts. I have to say that i wish I had like 10 years again. The gifts were way better, cheaper, more affordable and we got more gifts from out parents. So true. I shouldn't be complaining at all anyways cause I didnt bought a thing for my family. Nothing. Nada. Even if I could I wouldn't know what to get them. Well I know what I could buy dad, but mom and my sister I would use those now famous gift cards that are such a blessing for times like this. Anyways I got two purse a big one that have haves Snow White on it and another one that is black/red from Gap from my sister. My mom got me something for the hair a curling iron [no clue... sorry mom :)], a purple boxer with skulls [pretty]. Ohh my mom and dad [had to be them] got me the speakers for my Zune [Yey!!!] so now I dont have to buy them which is awesomely great. Still we have Los Reyes Magos day [Three King day]= happy triking day. We will see what happens. Hope you all got what you need.
